Setup & Support Guide
YouTube & YouTube TV Setup
Link the TV to your account, sort the playback, and get subscriptions showing where they should.
Linking YouTube to Your TV
YouTube on a television is linked to your Google account rather than a separate login, which is why sign-in problems here are usually Google account problems wearing a different hat.
Linking with an activation code
- Open the YouTube app on your TV and go to Settings, then Link with TV code.
- A code appears on screen.
- On a phone or computer, open youtube.com/activate while signed in to the right Google account.
- Enter the code to link the device.
Playback and quality problems
- Restart the TV fully rather than putting it into standby.
- Clear the YouTube app cache if your device allows it.
- Check the quality setting has not been pinned to a low resolution.
- Confirm the TV firmware is current — older sets lose app support over time.
Problems we fix most often
- Wrong Google account linked, showing someone else’s subscriptions.
- Premium or TV membership not recognised on a particular device.
- App removed or unsupported on an older television.
- Restricted Mode switched on and hiding content.
- Sign-in loops after enabling two-step verification.
